performance Quintette - music postcard from Poland I 2009 I Poland

music postcard

While walking through the fields of Poland I have passed this lonely stand in the forgotten shaggy grass a number of times. The stand could have been many different things: a village information board, an old road sign or something like a scarecrow. Each time I saw the stand I heard music being played by sleepless musicians. Day or night, rain or shine, always there for an audience whether they are present or not. I've heard stories that one can change the weather with a deeply concentrated mind--perhaps holding the clouds to a certain speed, controlling their appearance and the moment at which they vanish like the last note. Such tales become particularly vivid around harvest time when all special rituals take place for the good of all beings. Perhaps it is the musicians that charm the weather for a fruitful harvest.
